HBO is looking for the next Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Grab your wands, it’s time for some wizardry. HBO is hosting an open casting call for the next Harry Potter series. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be Harry, Ron or Hermione, then here’s how to create a spellbinding performance.

HBO’s Harry Potter is accepting submissions for children aged between nine to 11 years old in April 2025. Applicants must be residents in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Children must prepare two video submissions. The first is a short poem or story, which must be read in their own accent and it cannot be from the Harry Potter book series. The second is a short video about themselves, and they must share their date of birth, height and location. Plus, the producers highlighted that it is open to diverse performers.

HBO’s Harry Potter series is expected to air in 2026, and run for seven seasons. Each series will be an adaptation one of the book’s in J.K. Rowling’s series. The Harry Potter book series spans seven novels, and follows the life of the young wizard. The first novel was released in June 1997, and the film adaptation was released in November 2001.

The casting call for the film series received more than 40,000 responses, and there were more than 300 screen tests. The film franchise starred Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley.

The original books have inspired attractions around the world including Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter in London and Japan, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando in Florida. Plus, a Harry Potter Experience in Riyadh Season 2024

The submission deadline for the Harry Potter casting call is on 31 October.
