Singers, rappers and comedians are coming together to raise money for War Child UK. Artists for Aid takes place at Troxy in East London on Thursday, 4 July. The event will raise money for Gaza and Sudan, and here’s how you can show your support.
Artists for Aid took place in New York earlier this year, and now it is heading to London. The Troxy’s line-up includes Bint Mbareh, Blood Orange, Clairo, Daniel Caesar, Earl Sweatshirt, King Krule, Mustafa, Nicolas Jaar, Ramy Youssef, Safia Elhillo and Yasiin Bey.
Mustafa The Poet is a Sudanese Canadian poet, singer and songwriter. In 2021, he released his debut album, When Smoke Rises. He shared on Instagram: “London! Sudan is calling. Gaza is calling. Every artist here is a hero of empathy, thank you for answering our call. There is a war, hit a chord, cry an answer.”
American comedian Ramy recently hit the headlines after he hosted Saturday Night Live, and called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Hailing from New York City, United States, he is of Egyptian descent and famous for his role in the TV series, Ramy.
Daniel Caesar is a Canadian singer and songwriter. His songs include Best Part, Hold Me Down, and Peaches, which was a collaboration with Justin Bieber. Blood Orange hails from Ilford, London, and is famous for his indie rock sound. He has produced for artists including Britney Spears, FKA Twigs and Mariah Carey.
Earl Sweatshirt is an American rapper and record producer. He was born in Chicago, United States. His songs include Cold Summers, Playing Possum and Shattered Dreams. Yasiin Bey, previously known as Mos Def, is an American rapper and actor. The hip-hop heavyweight’s singles include Definition, Oh No and Respiration.
