January is one of the darkest months in London, but Battersea Power Station is switching things up and on. Running from 23 January to 23 February, Battersea Power Station’s Light Festival will bring together exciting installations across the area – and it’s free.
Now in its fifth edition, Battersea Power Station’s Light Festival brings together eight installations. The event includes four installations that have never been seen before in the United Kingdom.
The pieces include Aurora by James Glancy Design in Turbine Hall A, which is inspired by the Northern Lights. Atlas by Jon Voss in Malaysia Square is a cyborg-style piece. In Bloom by Kumquat Lab in Power Station Park is shaped like a flower and includes 10 petal-like spheres.
Lightcloud by Amigo & Amigo is in Electric Boulevard, and includes 1,000 lights that reflect the ever-changing human emotions. Never Ends by Luigi Console & Valentina Novembre is outside Third Space by Prospect Place, and includes a horse on a spring. Spider by Groupe LAPS in Turbine Hall B includes a large spider structure with 80 smaller spiders.
Spin Me a Yarn by Studio Vertigo in Circus West Village looks like a ball of wool. Plus, Tornado by UxU Studio in Power Station Park uses lights to create a tornado effect.
Battersea Power Station has undergone a major redevelopment. The station and the surrounding area have been transformed with love and a touch of luxe. The once-lost landmark of London is now home to world-class restaurants, residences and hotels. Plus, it opened its own London Underground station.
