Expect an evening of music, art and conversations.
London boasts plenty of spaces that promote art and culture. And this time around, it’s hosting a one-of-a-kind event at Tate Modern that blends creativity, music, and conversation.
Taking place on 31 August, Tate Modern will transform into a hub of artistic expression as it hosts a special edition of Tate Modern Late, curated by award-winning rapper Little Simz. Known for her introspective lyrics and sound, she will bring her distinct vision to the gallery, offering a night packed with creativity and inspiration. As part of the event, she will talk about her artistic influences, her relationship with visual art, and London culture.
Little Simz began her career with a series of mixtapes that garnered attention for their raw lyrics and fresh sound. Her breakthrough came in 2015 with A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons which showcased her unique blend of rap, soul, and funk. Her 2001 album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert garnered critics acclaim, while hits like Venom and Good For What solidified her position as an artist to be reckoned with. Most recently Simz has starred on screen in the Netflix drama Top Boy and the Marvel movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
The evening will also feature activities designed to celebrate London’s rich creative scene. Little Simz’s choreographer and movement director, Kloe Dean, will lead an exciting dance workshop. Following the workshop, Simz herself will spin some tunes. Also, expect beats from other artists that will play throughout the night.
But that’s not all. Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions. For those eager to create, Zine workshops, cartoon colouring sessions, and poetry and prose workshops will also be held. The Swatch Social space will be open throughout the evening as well if guests wish to partake in breathing and movement sessions, adding a holistic touch to the experience.
For those unversed with Tate Modern, it is one of London’s most prominent art galleries, housed in a former power station on the South Bank. And Tate Modern Late is a monthly event that invites visitors to enjoy an evening of art, music, film, and more, providing a unique way to experience the gallery’s exhibitions and special activities.
So mark your calendars and join Little Simz at Tate Modern for an artistic celebration. Attendance is absolutely free, so gather your friends and start planning now.
