The restaurant will serve its signature baos, noodles and xiao chi.

BAO has some news that is music to our ears. The much-loved Taiwanese restaurant will open BAO City on 26 September. Located in Bloomberg Arcade in The City, it will include karaoke rooms, a whiskey wall and its signature sandwiches.

The BAO brand was founded by Shing Tat Chung, Erchen Chang and Wai Ting Chung. The concept opened with the help of JKS Restaurants. In 2015, the first location opened in Soho. Today, it can be found across the capital in Borough, King's Cross and Marylebone.

BAO City

BAO City can accommodate up to 60 diners. The venue boasts a sleek and sophisticated design with dark hues and neon lights. The space includes brown leather banquettes and chairs, which are great for groups. The cool features include the private karaoke rooms, which are inspired by the films Taipei Story by Edward Yang and Wall Street by Oliver Stone. Two rooms are available – the first one can accommodate up to 13 people, and the second one can accommodate up to 28 people. Plus, the whiskey wall draws inspiration from whiskey cabinets found in Asia.

BAO City will serve the restaurant's signature dishes, which are superb for sharing, from noodles to xiao chi. The bao options include Beef Short Rib, Daikon, Fish Black, Fried Chicken, and Prawn Shia Song. The noodle options include Dan Dan Noodle with spiced tofu, Taipei Style Beef Noddle with slow-cooked beef cheek, and Yellow Chilli Chicken Rice with fermented greens. The xiao chi options include Lamb Dumplings, Soy-Glaze Aubergine, and Taiwanese Fried Chicken.

BAO's co-founder and Creative Director, Erchen Chang, explained: "We're really excited to open BAO City, where we can realise our dream of recreating a Taiwanese karaoke bar right in the centre of the city's financial district".

BAO City is open for bookings from 6 September. The opening times are from Monday to Saturday from 11am to 11pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
