Feel like royalty with a butler and Buckingham Palace views.
Live out your own Bridgerton fantasies at the luxury hotel, The Lanesborough. Drawing inspiration from the Regency period, a stay here is like stepping into a fairy tale. No request is too grand, and you’ll feel like royalty upon arrival. And, as it is located on Hyde Park Corner, you can count the King as your neighbour, and book a room overlooking Buckingham Palace.
The Lanesborough boasts a blockbuster location, and is within walking distance of Hyde Park, Park Lane, Oxford Street and sightseeing spots. Despite this, the entrance is elegant with a discreet driveway and staff in top hat and tails. The hotel is housed in a palatial mansion, which dates back to 1719. The building has been transformed into a glorious getaway by the interior designer, Alberto Pino.
The guests ranged from Arabs to Americans, and we could overhear conversations about Saudi Arabia in the lobby. Upon arrival, the staff possessed a graceful air and there were no pretences. The service was delivered with a smile from check-in to check-out.
Rooms and suites
The Lanesborough is home to 93 rooms and suites. Each room showcases a sense of English style and sophistication. When we entered the Park Suite, which spans 549 square feet, it felt like we were transported back in time but with discreetly designed mod cons. So much so that the room came with a butler who showed us how everything worked, including the TVs hidden behind a painting. Note: there was no speaker for us to play music.
The Park Suite is like a one-bedroom apartment, and comes with a hallway, lounge, bedroom, and guest as well as master bathroom. The bedroom can be closed off by a dramatic double door, and the lounge was useful for entertaining. Not only was the butler available at the press of a button, but made pots of tea in traditional silverware.
The marble bathroom featured a walk-in rainfall shower, bathtub, underfloor heating, and a television in the mirror. Wake up to views overlooking Hyde Park and terrific treats daily. As it was my birthday, I found balloons, cake, and a card awaiting me.
Restaurants and bars
The Lanesborough boasts a refined restaurant, bar and tea room. The hotel is home to The Withdrawing Room for lunches and tea, and the Garden Room is a hidden spot with gorgeous greenery.
The flagship restaurant is The Lanesborough Grill, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Executive Chef Shay Cooper is behind the menu, which showcases modern British cuisine. The previous restaurant The Lanesborough held one MICHELIN Star, and it has been revamped as The Lanesborough Grill.
Sit under the classy conservatory-inspired ceiling and sparkling chandeliers and sink into the stylish sofas. Breakfast includes Eggs Benedict, Full English, Shakshouka, and Smashed Avocado, and there are sweet and vegan options. Dinner highlights seasonal ingredients, and dishes include Salt Marsh Lamb, Scottish Halibut, and Watercress Risotto. If you order one thing, make it the Hereford Beef Wellington, which is made for two.
Facilities
The Lanesborough Club & Spa combines a gym and a spa. The gym offers classes, a personal trainer, and state-of-the-art equipment for biking, boxing, and TRX. Spa treatments include manicures, massages, pedicures, and aesthetic treatments, from Botox to fillers. Plus, there is a hydro-pool for some majestic me-time.
