This time around, the restaurant will take up two storeys.
London is home to a plethora of bars and nightlife concepts but not all survive the city. One such venue is the award-winning speakeasy, Oriole, which once lit up the capital’s bar scene but is now making a grand return.
After a forced closure in 2022 due to the redevelopment of Smithfields Market, Oriole is back with a fresh twist and a few delightful surprises. Having recently opened doors, Oriole has found a permanent address in Covent Garden’s Slingsby Place development.
The new Oriole follows the limited-time Prelude by Oriole pop-up that gave Londoners a taste of what’s to come. This new space is split over two floors in Covent Garden, offering more experiences than before. The ground floor is occupied by the Bamboo Bar, where you can sip on cocktails while enjoying small plates.
In the basement, Oriole’s signature speakeasy vibe is back in full swing. Plush seating and dim lighting create the perfect, intimate ambience with live music such as jazz and swing, elevating the entire experience.
As for the menu, Head chef Gustavo Giallonardo will be whipping up dishes inspired by his Argentinian heritage. Expect the likes of Hamachi Tiradito with Kimchi Aguachile, Italian Steak Tartare, Lamb Rump and Coconut Tres Leches.
The bar will feature a new menu that pays homage to the oriole bird. A bar lab will also be on site to craft beverages from scratch so expect new cocktails and signature ones such as the ever-popular Acadia.
Bookings are now open. So, grab your spot while you can because once more people find out, it’s going to be a full house.
