The new collection will be unveiled on 16 September.
British grime artist Skepta is going from concerts to the catwalk. The star is behind the fashion label MAINS London, which is now relaunching at London Fashion Week. As the brand collaborates with designer Mikey Pearce and graphic designer Johnson Orchid, here’s what to expect.
MAINS London first started in 2017. When it launched, it released a photo of Skepta and model Naomi Campbell in MAINS underwear. The images appeared on the front cover of British GQ and sparked dating rumours between the two. The brand gained worldwide attention and was available in Selfridges. Now, as the rapper is a Global Ambassador at Puma, he is working with the sports brand to relaunch MAINS.
In Vogue Business, Skepta explained: “I'm lucky enough to be able to bounce ideas with them, and together we've been making a flood of pure magic”. Plus, the new collection will include "crazy, beautiful, wearable clothes".
Skepta is from Tottenham, London. He was originally part of the grime group, Meridian Crew. He later joined the record label, Boy Better Know. In 2008, he released his first single, Rolex Sweep. His albums include Doin’ It Again, Ignorance is Bliss and Konnichiwa. Over his career, he has won BET Awards, Mercury Prize and MOBO Awards, and has been nominated for BRIT Awards, NME Awards and Q Awards.
London Fashion Week will showcase both men's and women’s wear and is scheduled to take place from 15 to 19 September. The MAINS London collection will be unveiled at 8pm on 16 September.
