The names range from the Suffragette line to the Windrush line.
The Mayor of London revealed the rebrand of an estimated £6.3 million Authority budget recently and announced the new names of the London Overground's lines. The London Overground, which is affectionately known as the Orange Line, has drawn inspiration from the capital's diversity.
The London Overground has introduced white lines and respective coloured borders to differentiate between the Overground and Underground lines on the Tube map. All the stations are now converted to each of their lines accordingly, and the information system is updated with the new diagrams and maps for use.
The Lioness line (yellow line) goes from Watford Junction to Euston. The Mildmay line (blue line) goes from Richmond and Clapham Junction to Stratford. The Windrush line (red line) goes from Highbury & Islington to New Cross, Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace and West Croydon. The Weaver line (maroon line) goes from Liverpool Street to Enfield Town, Chestnut and Chingford. The Suffragette line (green line) goes from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside. The Liberty line (grey line) goes from Romford to Upminster.
Sadiq Khan mentioned that the names of these new lines represent the diverse cultures and history of London. In February 2024, Khan stated that there would be changes in the Tube stations by autumn. Due to a cyber attack on TfL, it was delayed and pushed to mid-November. In November 2024, the Mayor was seen at the stations in Highbury and Islington presenting the new London Overground lines.
