Tate Britain and Tate Modern welcome amazing artists.
Tate has announced its programme for 2026 across Tate Modern and Tate Britain. The schedule is packed with exciting exhibitions, ranging from iconic modern art to 1990s design and much more.
Across both venues, the highlights include a noteworthy exhibition on Tracey Emin’s 40-year career, a deep dive into Frida Kahlo’s life and legacy with archival pieces for the audience to explore, and a retrospective of the artist James McNeill Whistler, the first of its kind to be held in Europe in 30 years.

These will also be supplemented by Hurvin Anderson’s first major museum show, displaying over 60 of his paintings that reflect his lived experience of the Caribbean diaspora in the United Kingdom. Tate will also display works by Ana Mendieta, which explore the increasingly important and relevant questions surrounding displacement, identity and our relationship to the environment, comprising photographs that have never been seen in the UK before.
Additionally, a specific event to look out for is The 90s exhibition, which is guest curated by Edward Enninful OBE. The show will display the work of iconic photographers of the time including Juergen Teller and Corrine Day, paired with the work of other internationally renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Gillian Wearing and Yinka Shonibare, and fashion pieces by designers such as Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, and Hussein Chalayan.

Maria Balshaw, Director of Tate, said "From three extraordinary women artists spanning the year at Tate Modern to the glorious immersive work of Julio Le Parc, and from the celebration of leading figures of modern British art like Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell, and Wilhemina Barns-Graham to new commissions and contemporary artists, the programme reflects our commitment offering our visitors once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to see great art brought together in Tate’s galleries.”
