Former Hakkasan Chef Qian is behind the menu.
London is embracing Chinese New Year with parades, parties and new restaurants. Located in Fitzrovia, 3 Gorges offers fine dining Cantonese food. If you’re after dumplings, duck and more, then put this on your restaurant radar.
The name 3 Gorges references the hydroelectric gravity dam in China, which spans the Yangtze River in the Sandouping Yiling District. The new venue is run and owned by restauranteur Li Zhang. She is also behind the Sichuan-inspired restaurant Sanxia Renjia, which can be found in Bromley, Fitzrovia, and Kingston. Chef Qian will be at the helm of the kitchen. He previously worked as the Head Chef of Gouqi, which was awarded a Michelin Star, and spent 10 years working with Hakkasan.

3 Gorges spans three floors. On the lower ground floor are private dining rooms, on the ground floor are the bar and restaurant, and on the first floor is the restaurant. Sit at one of the large round tables, which are great for groups. Both the dishes and experience are superb for sharing, as there’s even a Lazy Susan at the centre of the tables.

Chef Qian prides himself on the menu, which features luxurious dishes with abalone, lobster and starfish. The signature dish is Three Ways of Eating Geoduck, which must be ordered in advance. Starters include Braised Seafood Soup, Dim Sum Trilogy, Mousse Scallops and Peach Gum Duck Soup. Mains include Beijing Peking Duck, Charcoal Grilled Spicy Stuffed Meat, Eight Treasure Gourd Duck and Spicy Beef Shank. Plus, there is a set menu that showcases the signature dishes.
