The concept can already be found in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford.

Few restaurants have queues around the block in London. Dishoom has reached a legendary status among locals and is loved for its Indian food. Now, the team behind the concept are bringing Permit Room to Portobello Road in Notting Hill.

Permit Room can already be found in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford. The restaurant draws inspiration from the permit rooms in Mumbai, India. The name harks back to the days of India's Independence and refers to speakeasy-like spots where alcohol was permitted to be served.

Permit Room

Permit Room in London will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If the menus in the existing restaurants are any indication, diners are in for a terrific treat. The menu includes biriyani, chaat, Ruby Murray, salad, savouries, breads, and naans. The Permit Room special includes Chicken Tandoori, served with kachumber, chutney, and lemon.

Beautiful biriyani dishes range from Cherry Berry Britannia to Jackfruit Berry Pulao. Ruby Murray dishes include Chole with chickpeas, the signature Dishoom Chicken Ruby with a makhana sauce, and Prawn Moilee with coconut milk. Plus, if you want a taste of a classic Dishoom dish, look no further than the Dishoom Black Daal.

Breakfast at Permit Room is also very popular. Dishes at the existing restaurants include Akuri Pau with eggs and green chillies, Egg Naan Roll with saffron orange, and Chicken Keema Pau with chicken and eggs. Plus, The Full Permit is equivalent to a full English breakfast and comes with spicy eggs.

Dishoom's Chef Director Naved Nasir recently departed the brand to open a restaurant in the Middle East. We recently caught up with him to discuss everything from Dishoom to Dubai, and you can read the full interview here.
