Romeo San opens in May, is home to 25 seats and doesn't accept reservations.

It’s easy to spot Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte in Marylebone, thanks to its queue outside the door. Now, the same team behind the popular restaurant are opening a new concept, and hoping for the same foodie fandom. It’s time to say kōnichiwa to Romeo San.

Romeo San is bringing a temaki bar experience to London. Located on George Street in Marylebone, it is a Japanese hand roll bar opening in May. The restaurant has been created by the Elghanayan family, who created London and New York’s Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte. And, the new venture sees the family expanding their portfolio and creating Japanese food.

Romeo San

The full menu for Romeo San has not yet been unveiled. So far, we know that dishes will showcase locally sourced ingredients. Expect caviar from N25, fish from Notting Hill Fish Shop, and truffles from London's very own, Meera Courtesi. Plus, the team shared images on Instagram of them sourcing the fish.

The team at Romeo San will include Rodrigo Alonso as the Head Chef, who was previously at Sushi Atelier, and Roxy Voinea as the general manager, who was previously at Dorian. Yasmine Elghanayan explained: "Our handrolls are made with the finest ingredients. The dining experience is designed to be effortless, offering luxury without the wait”.

At Romeo San, the venue will be an intimate spot with 25 seats. Diners will be seated by the counter, and can watch the chefs at work. Reservations will not be available and it will offer a walk-in only policy. Plus, if you want to emulate the chefs at home, a DIY handroll kit will be available.
