Five Star Kitchen's winner Dominic Taylor is behind the Caribbean restaurant.

What does your front room look like? Well, chef Dominic Taylor loved his aunt Myrtle’s front room so much, he has used it as inspiration for his new restaurant. The Good Front Room has opened in The Langham, London, and serves contemporary Caribbean cuisine.

Dominic hails from South East London and was born to a Jamaican mother and Saint Lucian father. He was the winner of Channel Four and Netflix’s series, Five Star Kitchen. The grand finale was judged by The Langham, London’s Culinary Director, Michel Roux Jr. He impressed the judges with his dishes, which ranged from his own take on curry goat to jerk chicken.

The Good Front Room brings to life Dominic’s childhood memories. If you ever kept special plates for when The Queen visited, then you’ll understand this concept. His aunt Myrtle kept one room immaculate for special guests, and now that has been recreated in the restaurant.

Dominic is on a mission to share the joy of Caribbean cooking and bring it to a wider audience. The Good Front Room’s starters include Ackee and Saltfish Cakes, Jackfruit, Chickpea and Callaloo Patty, and Jerk Chicken. The mains include Banana Leaf Baked Sea Bream, Chef Dom’s Curry Goat, and Gungo Pea Daal. The desserts include Bun and Cheese, Cocoa Bean, and Coconut Milk Soft Serve. The cocktail list includes Blood and Sand with cherry, Caribbean Queen with tequila, and Carrot Cake Punch with rum.

The Good Front Room is located on Portland Place, and is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 6.30pm to 10pm.
