Located in Bayswater, it includes Turkish baths and a women’s only gym.

London is home to world-class spas. Now, the city’s oldest spa is opening following a £3 million refurbishment. Located in Bayswater, Porchester Centre has undergone a revamp, and is offering an exciting experience.

Porchester Centre is located in a Grade-II listed building. The venue boasts Art Deco features, and a long history that dates back to the 1920s. Now, visitors can enjoy a brand-new experience across the facilities.

Porchester Centre is now home to a 30-metre-long swimming pool, two workout studios, a gym across three levels, and a women’s only gym. The spa includes three Turkish baths, two steam rooms, a sauna and cold showers. The pool includes heat retaining features, which aim to improve the building’s energy efficiency.

In the gym, seven new pieces of equipment have been added, from leg curling to hip extension machines. The studios can now accommodate up to 30 people, and there are 54 classes per week. Plus, the gym includes new floors, walls and mirrors.

Cabinet Member for Communities, Councillor Cara Sanquest, explained: “Porchester Centre is an iconic piece of Westminster, and this major refurbishment will provide more facilities and opportunities for residents from all our communities to become and stay active. I’m especially proud of the new women-only gym and classes that we’ve been able to add, to encourage more women and girls to use our leisure facilities in spaces they feel comfortable in.”

“I also want to highlight a range of opportunities available for our older residents including: “Begin to Gym” in association with Open Age, getting over 55s back into the gym or the first time after a break; senior swim sessions three times a week; a range of classes from Qi-Jong to Zumba specifically for this cohort; and much more.”
