On your marks, get set, Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August. If you can’t make your way to the City of Lights, then here’s how to watch the opening ceremony in the capital. 

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony will take place on 26 July at 5:45pm GST. The BBC is the official broadcaster for the games. Viewers can watch events on BBC Sports, and catch up on BBC iPlayer. Plus, Eurosport will also broadcast the games in the UK. 

Paris Olympics opening ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony will be held on the River Seine, which runs for more than 700 kilometres through the capital. The parade will run for six kilometres, and depart from Austerlitz Bridge and end at the Trocadéro. The parade will include 10,500 athletes from around the world, and the traditional lighting of the Olympic cauldron. The games will be formally opened by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The ceremony is set to be the largest in the world – and everyone is welcome. Fans do not need tickets to access the upper quays, but do need tickets to access the lower quays. Plus, 80 screens and speakers will be situated throughout the route.
