The installation marks the 80th anniversary of the Second World War.
The Tower of London is set to combine spectacle and sentiment. Tower Remembers 2025 sees the return of almost 30,000 poppies at the historic sights. Running from 6 May to 11 November, the event marks the 80th anniversary of the Second World War.
In 2014, the installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red opened at the Tower of London. The piece symbolised the sacrifices made during the Second World War. Now, the original poppies have returned for Tower Remembers 2025.
The installation draws inspiration from the Second World War, and looks like a wound in the heart of the Tower of London. Poppies will pour across the lawn, which is overlooked by the ancient White Tower. The blood-red flowers will form a crater and ripple outwards.
The area will be a shared space for visitors to remember and reflect on the Second World War. The poppies are on loan from Imperial War Museums and were designed and made by the artist, Paul Cummins. The new display has been created by the designer, Tom Piper.
The Tower of London was affected by the Second World War. The site was bombed during the Blitz. One of the Yeoman Warders, Samuel Reeves, and a resident, Lily Frances Lunn, died from a direct hit.

Tower Remembers 2025 coincides with VE Day on 8 May. Plus, it will be open to visitors on V-J Day on 15 August, and it will culminate on Armistice Day on 11 November.
Tickets for Tower Remembers 2025 are available now. Tickets start from £35.80 for adults and £17.90 for children.
