The art installation is open dunning during the Holy Month.

The UK’s 2025 City of Culture, Bradford, has unveiled its Ramadan Pavilion. Running from 15 February to 30 March, the striking structure is called Infinite Light, and celebrates the Holy Month of Ramadan and the lives of Muslims all around the world.

Located in Centenary Square, this marks the second edition of the Ramadan Pavilion. The project was commissioned by the Ramadan Tent Project and Bradford 2025 as part of its Ramadan Festival. Designed by artist Zarah Hussain and architectural designer Fatima Mejbil, the impressive structure will be open 24 hours a day and free to visit. The Pavilion brings together ideas of unity and the link between the values and traditions of the month of Ramadan, seen through architectural illustration and experimentation.

Mejbil said: “We wanted to create something that would encourage people to pause and truly appreciate the heritage around them, something that would inspire a sense of pride in the city’s rich history.”

This year, the Pavilion consists of a double-archway arrangement that exhibits a variety of architectural styles, drawing inspiration from both Western and Middle Eastern traditions. These include the grand pillars and decorative courtyards seen at the holy city of Mecca, to the more Gothic architecture seen in Bradford’s City Hall. Linking both architectural styles together symbolises the unity and diversity of Bradford as a city, creating relationships and community during Ramadan.

The Pavilion is just one of many parts of the festival created with Ramadan Tent Project, an award-winning charity that mixes communities together to develop society’s understanding of Islam. This year’s festival theme is Connection, and other events that will help foster this include the Welcome Conference and Open Iftar, the UK’s largest community event in Ramadan.

Head over to Centenary Square to enjoy the culture and community offered to all faiths and walks of life.
